TT730T stopped recognising RDS-TMC receiver

My TT730T runs application 8.302 with Western & Central Europe map v825.2157.
Has stopped recognising my RDS-TMC receiver (round plug in type) which up until recently worked ok. Can it be one of the recent software updates or has the receiver developed a fault? If it's the receiver then I would replace it with the latest usb type which according to the TT website is compatible. But I don't want to spend on a replacement if its the software is at fault. I've run the disk check routine as suggested by TT but fault still there.
Anyone any suggestions?

Do you know anyone else who has a TomTom device you could try the receiver with? - if it is broken then the Mini-USB receiver will work fine with the 730.
Its certainly not the software though, I have ben out and about with 8,302 Navcore and v825 mapping today with my receiver working fine on the 930 - Mike
