Hi

Got a 940 yesterday (had been holding out waiting for the new map)

Ive done 2 things, both of which have resulted in the following...

The TT goes into a bizarre mode when it switches on but never goes past the welcome photo screen, then it shuts itself down the hard disk screen appears with the bar running across the bottom, it does this a couple of times then just gets stuck on the welcome screen photo. You cannot get past this.

Holding the power down for 20 secs does nothing apart from bring up the device info. The only way round this is to dock and do a full system restore.

The first time it happened I had added some pics and chose one as the start up pic, then I went into windows explorer and deleted it - should that of caused the above to happen.

The second time I put an 8gb micro SD card into the 940 with around 4gb of music on it. Again would that cause the above to happen?

Either I have got a duff unit or these Go's are very fragile and if you do something they dont like, they throw a major wobbly!

Just not sure which it is!

Cheers
Rich

Neither of those should screw it up, BUT are you going through the proper "safely remove hardware" process before you pull out the USB lead?

It's very easy to corrupt the internal memory if you don't, so always click on the icon in the system tray by the clock and wait for it to say it is safe before you unplug.

Sorry if that's something you're already doing!

Andy

I use the "disconnect device" within TT Home before I remove my Go. However on example 2 where I added a SD card the Go was not even connected to my PC at the time.

Im trying to find out if an 8gb card is too big for the 940, hence why it caused a problem.

cheers

An 8GB card will work fine with the 940, did you create a folder in the root of the card named "mp3" (without the "") and put the mp3 files in to the folder?

The startup picture shouldn't cause an issue as long as it is the correct size/ file name - I will chack this out on my 940 if you want to e-mail me the picture causing the issue, use the e-mail button below this post - Mike

Have you transferred a mapsettings.cfg file to your new device?
