I just bought a new car. The windscreen is MASSIVE. So I can't mount it on it.

I've looked elsewhere and best place I've managed to find is the driver window, though is inconvienient, it's better than blocking a large part of the view and needing to reach so far to actually touch it.

I'm looking for alternatives, a vent mount would be great but I can't find one for the x40 range, since the sucker-and-ball-joint mount functions as a charger as well.

Can anyone offer any more solutions or direct me to suitable products?

Have a look at the x40 accessory mount that works with the Brodit Pro Clip, you can find some additional details by clicking Here - Mike

I also have a massive windscreen and dash and I use a self adhesive disk on top of the (also large) dashboard and the supplied TT mount sucker mounts on to this. In the other car I use a friction mount and again the sucker fits this.

A lot depends on where you sit in relation to your dashboard, in my car I sit high so mounting the TT on the vents would put it out of my normal line of sight, on top of the dash is in my line of sight.

So does the Brodit dock stay in the car when you remove the Tomtom?
I have used Brodit for a PDA and for a TT x30 and it doesn't look like an invitation for car thieves, but the picture I have seen for the x40 looks like it would be.

I use a dash mounting disc attached with Velcro and thus easily detachable whenever I want.

I'm banking on the hope that a would-be thief realising that if I leave my dock in the car advertising I have a satnav then I've probably taken the sat nav itself with me. Couple it with leaving the glovebox open and it should be a winner.

Wishful thinking I know. What else can you do without faffing around with velcro Rolling Eyes

Brodit "Move-clip"...
A pair of flat plates that slide together. Go between the pro-clip vent mount and the TomTom dock. Means you only leave the flat plate on view.

No they don't.... Smile
The DSL website is a bit weird, if you use the search box to find an individual item or part number, then you don't get a specific URL for the page (you just get: http://www.dsldevelopments.com/search.asp every time).

So the links I gave are for pages of accessories. The items numbered are somewhere on those pages (3rd item down for the 215276 and 2nd item down for the 215053).
