|
|
Hi Everyone,
This is an unusual problem, I have a TT930 and have been updating my speedcams from this site on a now weekly basis, 2 weeks ago I started to have problems with my main desktop PC doing this.
What happens is when I have shut down TT Home, and navigate to the Western Europe map on my TT930 I now get the message "Windows Explorer Needs to close" or words to that effect, it then restarts explorer.I then try again to paste my new files but again the same thing happens.
So I go to my laptop and everything works fine, as it should.... I have restored my Desktop to an earlier time and that cured the problem for one week then it returned again. Both my Laptop and Desktop are running Vista Home Premium. This is driving me nuts! It does not happen on my desktop at any other time, in fact if I navigate to the root of my Tom Tom I can go into any folder with no problem except for the Westrn Europe Map one. I am thinking of deleting this folder, and replacing it with the first day explorer backup but I don't want to lose my favourites, could I save them by keeping the map settings.cfg file? Also if I do this I wont have the latest map, although if I am right it should be in my TT Home downloads section shouldn't it??
Any advice on why this is happening would be most welcome as it is driving me nuts! I know I could use my laptop, but I want to use my desktop!
Thanks in advance for helping to retain my sanity!

Hi Andy,
Thanks very much for the reply, so when it happens to you how do you get around the problem?

For me it's only intermittent, as if the USB port gets congested or there's a slightly dodgy file or something.
I'm getting something similar but more frequently at the moment because the internal memory on my 720 has died permanently. I've put everything onto an SD card so the TT runs fine, but every time I connect to Explorer it spends ages trying to contact the corrupt memory and sometimes falls over.
Usually a re-boot of the PC helps.
Have you tried running chkdsk on the TT's storage? |

Hi Andy,
It says no problems were found, and it still does not work
