Does anyone have an x20 and an x40 device and can compare the physical dimensions? I'm looking for a case for my TT 940 and I've found a nice Proporta one, but it's only listed as being for x20 devices.
Thanks! |

They're similar but not identical. I'd have thought any case designed for one would suffice for the other though unless it was a custom cover or other glove type wrap. Do these comparison images help?

What do you want from the case?
Do you want it just for the unit or to store accessories too?
If it is just for the unit Halfords do an official tomtom hard case it fits very nicely into @£20

Hi
I used an XL case for my 730, then got a 540 and it dosen't fit the XL case.

The official TomTom case for the x30 range just about fits the 940 but the zip will not fully fasten. The official TT case for the X40 range is in my view a better case than those for the x30 range, it is a slim rigid case with a sprung hinge. _________________ Drivelux |

Thanks - the Proporta case is quite well fitted I think so probably won't work with the x40 (specifically because the x40 seems wider in those photos - very helpful!)
I'll check out the hard case in Halfords, thanks for the pointer. |

I use Nintendo DS cases (from "Game" shops). Apart from having odd holes cut out of the inner plastic sleeve for the DS knobs and buttons, which looks a bit odd at first, they are great. Both the 720 and the 940 are a perfect fit.
They are the "official" ones and I can only see various "themed" ones with embroidered characters on their website at the moment, such as this:
but they also come in plain black, black/grey, or (shudder) pink (and you can easily cut off the "Nintendo DS" label.
They cost about £8 unless you can find one in the bargain bin.
There are also LOADS of other brands which will also work fine - take your TomTom in on a busy day and just try them all. I just found these to be the sleekest fit. |
