MIO C510 Canada map?

I bought a C510 in South Africa and just moved to Canada, I figured it would be no big deal to just get a new SD card with the Canada maps on it

Apparently its a huge deal and MIO tech support is so clueless they say the maps are in the firmware and cant be changed:(

Is there anyone out there that got a 510 working with the canadian maps that could tell me how to do this?

Send me a pm and I'll try to answer in detail but I can't promise when.

The simple (and official) answer is that you need to buy the US/Canada maps on copy protected SD card - the SD card then slots in to the top of your device and when you turn the device on it loads the new maps on the SD card without you even knowing.

The unfortunate reality is that the official solution is not available: Mio has left you high and dry with no support and no ability to buy maps for < 12 month old "legacy" devices. You can't buy the maps anymore because Mio doesn't produce them and nowhere seems to have old stock.

I've just looked on eBay and the best price available for such maps is £195.

Now there's a problem - what can you do? Bin a perfectly good bit of hardware?
