After a brief love affair with my new toy it looks like it will be returning to the factory from whence it came.

Shame was impressed with the device , great improvements and features made from my old oneXL .

Came to update it last night and wont connect to the computer or the laptop , plug cable in and you are still getting the power from the USB but the " connection " screen will not come up on the tomtom. Have reset the device to factory settings through the menu.... although there appears to be no manual reset button on the bottom like on previous devices.

Also with the new style adaptor I have no way of using my old cable to determine if the connection issue is with the tomtom or the dock .

That doesn't sound too good, but try resetting the device, as you have found there is no such didicated reset switch but if you press and hold the power button for long enough the device will reset - you gat the black screen with the TomTom Logo and the Drum Roll, at this point release the button and let the device boot - then see if you can do anything with it - Mike

Jesus H Tap dancing Christ !!!! Mike ... may I call you Mike ? Not only thanks for the quick response , but thanks for the advise , it seems to have done the trick all back talking to each other now. Seems I should have read the manual a bit more to find the way to manual reset.

It looks like my love affair with the 540 may be back on , although I may be a bit more cautious now , ie check the phone bill or keep my eyes on its text messages.

Thanks again .... now what are you like at tiling floors ?

I think it is best I stick to the TomTom devices, I hate DIY of that nature Wink - best of luck, and glad to hear it fixed the issue - Mike
