A couple of years ago I got a 510 - suffered from a drooping mount, which TomTom eventually improved and replaced on request.

Just bought a 540, and the mount has a problem.
I decided to make a dash mount for my '09 Mazda 6, as Brodit don't make a suitable one yet. Simple enough, using a strip of 1.5mm aluminium and a dash disk.

Obviously, any dash mount is going to suffer from more vibration than a windscreen mount, but I wasn't prepared for the annoying rattle from the mount at low speeds.
The problem is the release button, which is a loose fit in the mount. Touching the button stops the rattle.

I dismantled the mount, and packed the guides for the button and the latch ramp with silicon grease (sold for lubricating ball diffs in RC cars). This has fixed the rattle.

Maybe they were low on grease the day the made yours? I have two which I dashmount in each car and neither rattles at all, although there is some play in both buttons.

Same here, no rattle. The mount is one of the better features of the x40's IMHO!

Maybe I got a bad one, or my car (diesel) shakes more than most?

mine rattles too!

that low end diesel torque doesn't seem to do it any favours either.

I think I'll ring TomTom and request a replacement.

My 540 mount is rattle-free and a vast improvement v. my old 510.

I have a diesel MINI and use a dash disk stuck to an old drinks coaster that I've made removable from the curved surface with Velcro. Maybe that provides a bit of vibration damping?
