Hello All,

I'm in the market for a new sat nav in the next couple of weeks. One feature I would really like (which I'm not even sure if it exists!) is when you plug your sat nav into your pc, it can track on a map where you have been and the time taken.

Does any one know if any sat nav software programs can allow this? It probably will affect the unit I buy!

Cheers in advance,

Chris

One suggestion.

With iGO8 you can use 'track logs' and when saved can be dragged and dropped into Google Earth where you can sit back and see where you've been using 'fly-over'.

It also has 'trip data' where you can save up to three journeys and see e.g. Average speed, Driving average speed, Maximum speed, Total, driving and stopped time, total distance, minimum and maximum altitude. (Although altitude is not very accurate, as I believe with all units used in the car). There doesn't appear to be a way of transferring this data to Computer or Google Earth, if there is I can't find how.

Initial outlay may put you off as the software alone is around £120, although map updates are usually around half price and sometimes free.

You may be able to pick up a second hand Mio168 or P350 quite cheap or one of the other supported devices SEE HERE which could swing you towards or against.
