Map Transfer

I've a Garmin 250 with the old V.9 map which I bought early last year. My brother bought the same unit this year but with the latest 2008 map. I just wonder if it is possible to copy the map data on his unit and transfer it onto my unit via a pc and will it work? Your comments will be appreciated.

Unlikely, especially if your brother had to use an unlock code to use the map - it is then locked to the unit, and a new code has to be bought to put it on another one.

If it was installed on internal memory when bought, so without a separate installation-with-unlock-code, I think it's just not transferable at all.

Might be wrong, but you are probably best advised to go to the Garmin website and see what's what.
