Please can anybody tell me why my sat nav keeps shutting down during navigation. It works ok for a while but then shuts off and reloads ( this can take a couple if mins). When it restarts it has lost the last instruction. I then have to put in the data again. The restart looks like it is updating just like when connected to the pc.
Any assistance will be gratefully received.

Hi Thanks for your very prompt reply.
Yes I have reset unit several weeks ago (lost all saved data) and updated through tom tom since. It is always on power lead as batt on lasts for 60-70 mins.
It is only ten months old but going to tom tom would be like investing all your money in Leaman bros the day after they went tits up. |

Resetting the device doesn't cause it to loose all the settings, it sounds like you used the "Restore factory defaults" option?
Have a look Here for the location of the reset switch, you will have to select your device from the drop down box on the page I have linked to.
If this doesn't fix the unit there are a few other things we can try before you have no option to call TT Support, they are not that bad from the couple of times I have used them - Mike |

Hi Mike,
I am glad someone knows what they are doing.
You were right about using factory restore.
I have now pressed the reset button on the underside of unit.
I am using it tomorrow (sunday) for a long run and will get back to you.
Thanks for your assistance.

Also check how much free storage space you have. The TT needs some "working" space (like virtual memory on a PC). If your SD card or internal memory is really full, this can cause crashes. |
