Erm, could you enquire as to their intentions towards the iPhone 3G?

I just know they'll be keen to be seen to be open & to keep their loyal customers well informed!

Could they be asked to forget about HD traffic until they have fixed standard gprs traffic for long suffering subscribers please?

Yes we're going and whilst I doubt there will be as big an opportunity for such Q &A's as GPSPassion suggest I will endeavour to ask.

To be fair I've always found TomTom one of the most open companies. They have a community forum representative and ensure we're all kept in the loop as much as possible. I've tried to get Garmin to adopt the same attitude and it has yet again fallen on deaf ears.

TT mobile is now back on the agenda enjoying it's own group along with PND, TeleAtlas, TT Work and TT Automotive but I can't say much more on that at the moment other than there will not be a consumer standalone version of TTN for PPC, all future releases in the Mobile arena will be in partnership with hardware as has been the case for v7 with HTC. They cited support issues as being the main reason for this change.

We were shown the HD Traffic operation, had a discussion concerning MapShare amongst other things.

They wouldn't be drawn on an iPhone GPS product although there was a comment that they had recently poached a senior bod from Apple's iPhone team, make of that what you will!

There was also an opportunity to see HD Traffic in action and we had a 940 to play with.

Thanks Darren,

though the thought of TomTom being one of the most open makes me fear for the rest of the industry!

I can't imagine a worse way to manage a dedicated customer base than the way Navigator owners have been left 'hanging' with a refusal to discuss their intentions towards us. A 10% discount voucher towards a PND (which I wouldn't have used, by the way) might have been a better gesture towards retaining a reasonable group of users.

Instead I get their usual registered mailings telling me I can upgrade my map; despite knowing what TT product I own, they don't bother trying to encourage me to upgrade to a different platform, they just display the 'arrogance' to assume I must have a PND! It isn't the best way to leverage customer data.

Anyway, that's all history. Good for them in stealing an iPhone person. Personally, I feel all the 'information' they've put out about their intentions towards the iPhone has been directed at their competitors, leaving people to think something is happening. A bit like Navigator for the existing customer-base.

I really do hope I'm proved wrong!! My suspicion is we're about to be 'assaulted' by a google sat-nav solution (which isn't a good thing!).

Thanks again for taking the time to post your observations.

I totally agree...now that we know 'for definite' (?) that Navigator is no more for us standalone PDA guys..time to have a rethink,...get hold of TT7 ?...McGuider ?...or of course CoPilot,? who seem to at least recognize the stand alone market, and looking at my sons set up, (stand alone,) it seems to hold its own against TT. Checking the camera database however, I see that it's consolidated only for CoPilot..is that likely to change ?
