c510 in the usa

Hi There

I was wondering as i am off on holiday to the usa soon can i take my garmin c510 with me and use it there ? I know i will have to pay for the Maps for it from garmin which i am fine with and know that i will need a 4gb SD card for this because of the map size.

How would i put the map of the usa onto the machine ? And i take it i must back up my own unit onto my pc hard drive so i can put everything back the way it was when i come back ??

You can buy City Navigator NT North America quite cheaply, suggest get the DVD version and install on your PC. That way you can install just those states you need for your trip. If you are only visiting 3 or 4 states you may not even need an SD card. You may have space to add a few states to the internal memory on the unit, and this will be done witout affecting your existing maps. If not you'll need an SD card, 2GB would be more then enough for all of US. Again these will be transferred to the SD card without affecting your existing maps.
