Iv had a tip from a very good source that the loophole of specs cam not able to catch speeders when they change lanes between cams is to be fixed but sources think this news could just be a roose becouse the fact they can be fooled had been leaked. As far a i know it was documented in the Daily Express on the 16th april and my source is looking into this. As of now we should all assume this loophole has been fixed but i will post again if i hear otherwise. If anyone else has heard of this loophole or has any info on the fix or questions then please post your comments. Thanks

A very good tip would be:

Check your speedo before passing the first specs camera to make sure that you are not exceeding the speed limit. Maintain that speed (or slow down if apppropriate to the road/traffic conditions) throughout the speed limit. Continue safely on your journey without worrying that you might get an unwanted envelope in the next few weeks. Very Happy

For the small distance involved with Specs and the fact it is normally there for a good reason - safety of workers in the roadworks, it best to keep within the limit.

We have been looking for volunteers here before to let us know the result when speeding through specs and jumping lanes, we would be delighted to hear the results - out of three goes. Wink

Joking aside as far as i understand the new generation of specs can identify cars in different lanes, whether a new law was passed to clear it i not sure, but none of us would be able to fight the case to prove it.

The deal on camera detection with speeding now seems to be anything goes, just look at North Wales police with the horsebox and Derby police with the builders van, i not sure if either is 'legal', Confused but it hasn't stopped them having a go.

I'm really not convinced about this loophole. Otherwise what would be the point of putting an end camera on a slip road, as on the M60 round Stockport?

It's worth remembering (whether this loophole exists or not) that while specs cameras are said to work in pairs, no-one appears to need to say which two are paired together. In you example, it could be any preceding cameras paired to the exit slip camera.

When you think about why they are there in the first place usually (roadworks) it's not really the place to be doing more than the requested speed in any case. There's always dangerous/careless driving and driving without due care and attention etc that you can be nicked for regardless of actual speed.

In this example they are permanent fixtures to enforce a 50mph limit round a dangerous bend. One start camera (30640), one end camera on the main carriageway (30537) and one end camera on the exit slip (30536). There'd be no point to the slip road camera if changing lanes fooled them.

To everyone who's commented on this topic id like to say thanks for your input. And on a final note for those of you complaining we shouldnt speed in the first place, If the system of catching speeders wasnt being abused then we wouldnt feel the need to try harded to protect ourselfs from it. Just becouse were concerned dont mean were speeders or want to speed.

For example the M42 last week. On a very quiet motorway the speed limit was reduced to 40MPH through the speed camera and then back to normal straight after Mad
