|
|
Hi Chaps,
My lad had a PS3 linked (By a HDMI cable) to an Acoustic Solutions HD Ready LCD TV.
The PS3 & TV works great...BUT....
On each & every DVD that he's tried the sound (music, for instance) picture, subtitles (if selected) work great.
Unfortunately when the character (whether it be Rambo, Michael Caine, or Alvin {from the chipmunks} opens their mouths...NOTHING COMES OUT!!!
I've checked as much as I can in the settings BUT no joy!!
Pls help
Cheers

Wild guess but is there a "karaoke" setting anywhere that's been set by mistake. _________________ Gerry

Not thought of that..... will look!
However, I do wonder if Rambo would launch into a rendition of " I will survive" as he's being shot at, chased by doggies & leaping off a cliff face!
Regardless the reply is appreciated

Will double check on the model No. But as it uses a HDMI cable, then that should suffice.
Thanks for the reply

That's a good point.
According to the TV it supports both of these & (I would have thought) would not require a centre speaker (it's a fairly decent tv). As it uses HDMI, I'll see if the PS3 will support additional outputs (audio).
However, I'll double check.
The reply is appreciated

Thats definately it. Mine does the same thing when I have it hooked up to the stereo.
I would suspect that if the TV it is hooked upto does support 5.1 and 7.1 then it will either have an output for a center speaker or a built in one. If it doesnt use a speaker then it isnt really 5.1 or 7.1.
Try going into the DVD menu and selecting english stereo rather than 5.1. Thats if that particular DVD has it of course or change the sound settings on the PS3 to output stereo rather than 5.1. |

I for one use a seperate optical connection from the PS3 to my amp, in addition to the HDMI cable to the TV, and it doesn't cause me any problems at all. Still get 5.1, it just doesn't support the hi-def audio formats you get on BluRay discs.
You can change the audio settings in the setting menu, it allows you to change between HDMI, Optical or the proprietary connection that Sony uses on their consoles. |

Many Thanks for the response.
On further frigging about, it would seem that ALL dvds default to the 'commentary' option (WHY would you want that..anyhow??).
Sometimes the commentary doesn't come on...hence the loss of 'speech'.
This has got me well & truly flummoxed. I have tried using the Scart connection (no HDMI) & still got the same result.
Will spend the weekend trying all the possibilities.
Cheers
