I have a One original prehistoric version and have just bought a map of Eastern Europe from TomTom.
I got my email and have tried to follow the instructions but Home won't recognise my device so I can't see how I can access my map. I've downloaded V2.3 and also tried a new SD card to no avail.
The operating system on the TT is 6.15.
The Home help function is driving me round the bloody nuts - I seem to be going round in circles!
Please could someone explain in words of one syllable how I accomplish this task? I will need to use a new SD card as the original one is nearly full.
Thanks in advance. Russ

You have to have an "account" with TomTom. This is a particular email address.

Your "device" (the One) has to be registered to that account. You can change which device is registered to an account (with limitations like only once every six months), but you cannot have more than one device on an account.

When you buy the map you have to be logged into that account

When you use Home to download and install the map you have to be logged into that account AND the one has to be plugged into the PC and switched on and 'connected' to the PC.

Are you doing all of that?

Version 6 tomtoms aren't recognised by version 2 of 'Home'.
Use version 1.5 or 1.6 of 'Home' to fully update to version 7 and then switch to 'Home' 2.

If you are connecting your TT One to a computer for the first time, it won't be recognised by TT Home 2.x unless you have bootloader v 4.86 or later.

You have to revert to TT Home 1.5 (I think) to get ht e bootloader update.

Or you may be able to get it from Oldboy's site by downloading the latest system software. This avoids TT Home altogether for system upgrades and should allow you to get TT Home 2.3 to recognise the One.

The bootloader number can be found on the One by going into the Prefs menu, or tapping the bottom right of the screen and then tapping on your version number, again bottom right.

Thanks for your help guys.
Whilst waiting for a reply, in desperation I tried inserting my newer Western Europe map into the card reader and suddenly everything started to work!
I guessed there must be a software issue with the version on my original One UK card so backed up the WE content to my PC and then copied it back to a new 2GB card. As soon as I used the new card I was able to download my map plus a couple of updates, so now have both Western and Eastern Europe on one card - phew!
Thanks again for taking the trouble to explain what was wrong, I found the TT so-called "Help" immensely frustrating...
By the way SGould, how do you find the time to be an expert here as well as resident guru on Saabscene? Russ

I think I fit in somewhere between addiction and miser, with a bit of inquisitiveness along the way. Smile

I used to make a point of going on-line when my boss went for a smoking break - so 10 minutes every half hour!! But he's given up smoking Sad
