On one particular route from my home, my tomtom still insists on trying to make me drive my car over a motorway footbridge. This after installing the latest map, and numerous submissions by myself and others to mapshare showing the error!
Where do I send my C.V? _________________ Graham

You'll have to block the road again using mapshare on your own map (it appears that changes made to one don't get added to the updated map sadly) . Hopefully, enough people will do the same and the road will get blocked on all our TomToms.
If you really want to work for TomTom, the link is on their homepage. _________________ Gerry

you could post it here so:
a: we dont get caught out
b: we can all report it on ours and if enough reports hit tomtom it might get sorted out. |

It transpires that the mapshare corrections are a LONG way away from the TomTom sales hype of you benefiting from corrections submitted by 10 million TomTom users.
Firstly, the number of corrections you can make is so very limited.
Secondly, the corrections you submit will only go to the identical maps on other devices - your correction of a UK road will only go to users with the ONE GB and Eire. It will not go to the 720 Western Europe, etc, etc, etc.
I have three different devices and the correction I make on one of them to the street where I live does not pass to the other two. I am three of the 10 million users. And two of us are dead sick of having to do the other guy's corrections time and time again! _________________ Dennis

The fact that they don't get transfered fro one unit to another I think is outrageous. Why is this? |

If they are exactly the same Map and Version, and have been 'verified' by TT they will become public, unless you select the option for the 'corrections submitted by some'.
Your own corrections can be transferred to another device registered against the same email address, as long as it has an IDENTICAL map on it. But the stupid policy that TT have of a different email address per device kind of makes this pointless.

I made loads of corrections because Guernsey only has basic coverage. Roads all ok but no one-ways etc. After resetting to factory defaults all my corrections were gone, but "Corrections made by me" is one of my Mapshare preferences so I expected them to be downloaded again. It's not just the same version but the same map.
Perhaps I should try reloading my backed-up map.
Incidentally, TomTom isn't sure whether we drive on the right or left in Guernsey. I get a warning to drive on the right, and the roundabout icons on thye bottom right shows you going round the roundabouts the wrong way. But the verbal instructions and the map displays are correct for driving on the right. _________________ TT Go Essential |

A few thoughts here....

Crazyharry - if you've made corrections on your PRESENT map, then the satnav SHOULD be using them for navigation, so long as you have "use my own corrections" ticked in the Map Share preferences.
Is this not happening?

Good idea.

Any idea HOW many? I've made loads of corrections, and thought I'd have hit a limit by now.

They DO get transferred to other copies of the same map.
What is annoying is that TomTom promised that the corrections would also get carried over to new map versions, and that isn't happening (or at least it's not with any great speed!)

Have you tried copying the "MapUserPatch.dat" file across from a backup?

That's an outrageous error! Perfect example of TomTom's lack of proper testing before release |

Apologies Andy for my poor wording - I was meaning the very limited number as in (Un)Block, Reverse Flow, Rename. Sorry. _________________ Dennis

There IS one though.
I remember reading a post a while back where someone had got a message on-screen saying something like "Storage full. You cannot make any more corrections to this map" |
