Have just taken delivery of a new 930T. Seemed like a good idea to check for updates which I duly accepted and followed instruction to disconnect / restart. Now the unit will not get past the start up screen (picture of a cross roads with blurred cars). Have tried pressing the reset button - makes no difference, same thing happens when you turn the unit back on. What can I do?

Have you got a backup of the device from prior to the upgrade? if you have install that, if you have no backup connect the device to your PC and use Windows Explorer to view the TomTom device.
Use Windows Explorer to delete all the loose files from the root of the device, do not touch any folders. Connect the device to TomTom Home and let it update. Doing the above will replace the corupt files on the device, once you get it working make a full backup to your PC using Windows Explorer

If the above is too difficult or you cannot get it working return it to the vendor as DOA - Mike

Stupidly, I did not realise I should have taken a back-up, but have followed the instructions and all OK now (and back-up running as I type!)

Out of curiosity - seems to be taking a very long time to back up - where does it back up to? Over the Internet to TT rather than hard drive of PC? Thant would explain why it is slow given I am connected over a 3G phone at the moment.

Many thanks for you help.

It's probably worth cancelling that backup and reading this thread esp Number 1. A Windows Explorer backup is preferred over a backup run by TomTom Home.

Hi Mug (where the heck did you get that name from)
Follow the thread that PaulB2005 has given you. A Backup made with Windows Explorer is the most important task that you, as a Tomtom owner, can undertake.

You can store the Backups where ever you wish (hard drive, memory stick or DVD etc) and whatever cock-up may happen in the future you will be able to restore as if nothing amiss had ever happened.
