Hi Guys

Got a problem with my GO540

I have just paid £47.50 for the HD Traffic service and now when I try to set my TT up to use it I am getting a message about a SIMerror with Error code 1008.

Does it sound terminal and haveI just wasted £47.50.

My device version number is 9.054.531676.1

Thanks

Paul

TT help pages say connect device to home and update to version 9.058 but when I try this no update option is shown.

Not an HD user myself, but I recall the error cropping up frequently in posts. Do not install version 9.058. Wait for more advice from the forum.

Is it possible 9.058 is already installed? Hence the issue. Instructions to downgrade back to an 8.x NavCore are on the site. I'll see if I can find them.

"Step 1 - Remove the Application

- Connect your navigation device to your computer.
- TomTom HOME starts.
- If HOME offers a new application, click Back.

- In HOME, click Manage My GO
- Select the Items on device tab and then select Applications.
- Click Remove Selected Items from the Device.
- Click on Manage My GO again.
- Select the Items on computer tab and then select Applications.
- Click Remove selected items.

Step 2 - Update the Application

- Select 'Update my GO
- Update and Install any software applications that are offered (you may be offered more than one application)
- Click on "Device" in the top left of HOME and then Disconnect
- Disconnect your TomTom device from your computer"

When you have removed the appication (Step 1), the first install will be back to V8.371 (Step 2). After the first update your GO will restart and ask if you want to connect to your computer (this would normally then update your device to V9.058). Just say no and disconnect, your device will then then remain at V8.371.

Thanks for the help guys, now back to V8.371 and HD Traffic is now working, its also interesting to note that the TT is also much faster and smother as well.

Looks like this problem has been known by TT for quite some time, I wonder why they have not posted a fix yet.

There are a few other issues with the 9.058 NavCore such as the traffic bar taking 4-5 minutes to even appear let alone connect. TT have promised a fix but that was a while ago and no ETA as yet.

It was 9.054 that caused the SIM error which was installed on the OPs 540. This was fixed in 9.058 but that causes delays in the traffic bar first appearing.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. They'll never fix it.

Hi Guys

Just wondering, now that I have down graded to version V8.371 would I be missing some feature that the later versions have or are all the later versions just bug fixes.

Thanks

Paul

Trading about TT they will not be 'bug fixes', just bug introductions and feature removals Sad

The navcore 9 does offer the "Eco Route" option for route planning but that said it doesn't seem to produce very good routes from what I have tried, put it this way its not an option I would ever bother selecting!

Other than the above a few new icons/ screen layout changes, hardly worth bothering with considering it up the Live services on the device so much - Mike

The main thing I like about V9 is that you can turn off voice guidance without turning off all the other audible information. If I am driving 300 miles up the A1, I do not need any route guidance, just POI and traffic warnings and alterntaive routes where there are problems.

I also like the route summary in that is shows delays due to traffic and busy roads from IQ routes, not of major importance, but nice to know.

The time to connect to Live Services is the most annoying bug by a long way.

I do like that - much easier than messing around with a quiet recorded voice when you a halfway some where and need voice directions
