|
I just downloaded the latest version of the camera database using Ash's utility and uploaded it into my Nuvi 760, but now all I get is the default beep and the default small round blob for all the camera locations instead of my sounds and images.
I've tried manually removing the POI file from my unit before installing the new ones, and telling POI loader to remove the file as well but the result is the same.
Anyone else had this problem? I'm using Windows XP.
Thanks. |

I've not had any problems using CM and the custom 24x24 icons from here.
Have you checked the files in your POI folder are OK? i.e. that the sound and bmp files match the names of the speed cam(GPX) files? Is it possible you've inadvertantly changed the "Sort by..." type on the Settings tab?
Also have you changed POILoader version recently? |

This is what happened.
I created a new set of mp3 files using audacity, copied them into my POI directory directly over the existing files. Filenames were the same.
I then ran Ash's utility to update, didn't touch the settings so it was still using my custom icons and the new sounds.
Used POIloader (I recently rebuilt the system so I grabed the latest version, but this version has worked perfectly before) and uploaded the database.
Did a test, the images/sounds were wrong.
I'm just in the process now of doing another update with the old sound files put back.
And yes, I did have all the filenames correct ;)
With the original files back in place, I'm still getting 'bing bing' and the wrong icons
The size of the file dumped out to my 760 also looks small, 1.7Mb. |

http://www.ukrm.org/feek/temp/poi-20080613-221345.png is the files listing where you can see the filenames are correct (this is with the originals back again).

Well you've set up the mp3 and bmps for a Speed Zoned database but have the GPX file for a Consolidated Database.
The GPX, BMP and MP3 files must be in groups of 3.
i.e
either
GATSO.GPX
GATSO.BMP
GATSO.MP3
REDLIGHT.GPX
REDLIGHT.BMP
REDLIGHT.MP3
etc
OR
UK_FORTY.GPX
UK_FORTY.BMP
UK_FORTY.MP3
etc
You can't have
GATSO.GPX
UK_FORTY.BMP
UK_FORTY.MP3
and expect it to work.....
You need to change the option on the Settings page in CM to Sort By Speed Limit to use those BMPs and MP3s. |

I sussed it - Had another look and wondered where the .gpx files were.
The Camera Manager had dropped back to 'sort by camera' mode instead of 'sort by camera type and speed limit' mode.
Set it back, resynched and job's a good 'un |

Thanks Paul, we must have been typing at the same time there - I had the box open and was typing as I was testing it and I think you posted while I was doing that |

I had exactly the same problem. See this trhead...
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=409261#409261
Unit was returned to Garmin. They suggested the problem was caused by a rogue zero length (0k) poi.gpi file in the unit's POI directory. They deleted this and now should be OK. I have not received my unit back yet so I haven't tried a new POI install but they say it displays correct icons. _________________ Nick Russell

Thanks for the reply Nick, my problem was a bit more straightforward in that I'd just got the filenames mixed up |
