Using Mapsource with Garmin Nuvi 710

Folks I'm a newbie here and have just bought a Nuvi 710T. Until now I was using my Garmin 196 aviation GPS in land mode with the Mapsource Garmin City Navigator Europe V8 CD but now need speed camera facility and traffic monitoring as I will shortly have a long commute to work (hence the 710).

I very nearly deserted Garmin as the MyMichelin 970X does everything the Nuvi 710 does but at just over half the price but in the end I decided to buy Garmin because I plan to keep this GPS for a long time.

Now my question is: If I were to want European mapping can I just use my existing Mapsource CD to download European maps to the Nuvi 710??

You can add maps to your SD card as well as POIs and the PGPSW database.

You will have to 'un-lock' your previous City Navigator Europe V8 CD to use on the 710. At least you can use City Navigator Europe V8 CD on the PC for routing, tracks and waypoints without charge!

The cheapest option for European maps will be MetroGuide! No unlock code is needed!
