Sorry but I couldn't find if there is already a thread of map howlers but I came up with my best one this morning. Used my new 920 to drive to work today. It took me over Holborn Viaduct in central London and asked me to turn right onto Farringdon Street. Only problem is that Holborm Viaduct is, as its name suggests, a bridge and runs about 50 feet ABOVE Farringdon Street. Would TomTom have paid for my car being written off and my injuries if I had tried their manouevre? |

If you have a recent version of TomTom software/maps, I trust that you have reported this via Mapshare?
... and no, I'm sure TomTom wouldn't have compensated you. These devices are supposed to be aids to navigation, they aren't intended to replaces common-sense. |

You need the Tripmaster add-on.... That gives you an ALTITUDE display! |

This often happens when two roads are 'above' each other and the satnav can't work out which one you are on. I have been asked to drive over the side of a flyover when the TomTom thought I had gone off on the slip road.
Oh, and no, TomTom won't pay. _________________ Gerry

I've got a similar sitation near my house, estate road goes under an A road via a bridge... keep being told to drive off the bridge... Map share "reports" it well enough, but my own fixes for this error are ignored by my TomTom next time I make the journey.
If I were to "block" a road with Mapshare then that gets reported and taken into account by my Tomtom. The leaping off the bridge syndrome seems to be ignored... shame Mapshare is a bit limited. |
