Hi,
Just digged out my TomTom 300 after not using it for a year or so. Plugged it in and tried to perform an update on software etc. It appears to have been installing but came to a halt towards the end, and the green progress bar was at the same position for around 45 mins or so, so there was no other option for me other than to cancel / disconnect the TomTom. Now when I switch it on, all i get is the SD Card with the red cross in it.

Am i screwed??

Have you got a copy of the SD cards contents on the PC known as a back up - Mike

Nope i haven't. Cust Services sent me an email with a guide on how to restore. I can see the contents of the card through my computer - and the adviser told me that the contents were not corrupt. Anyway, in the instructions, it requires me to connect the device to tomtom home, but home does not recognise the device anymore. no error messages or anything, even though I can see it connected through my computer.

Get back in touch with Customer Support and tell them that Home cannot see the device but Windows Explorer can, it is possibly the file called "system" that is either missing or out of date on the device, I have seen this before with a different TomTom device last month, TT Support sent me the file by e-mail and the device was then seen by the Home software - Mike
