I've had my TTG720 two months now, and have recently made determined attempts to use the handsfree. I don't appear to get any buzzing noises, but the person at the other end cannot hear me unless I hold the unit right up to my mouth to speak - is it a return job?
If so, has anyone had any luck returning stuff to Amazon once it's out of the 30 day period?

I was just about to post the same question as I have exactly the same problem. I've only had my TT 720 about a week and it will relay incoming calls relatively clearly but the person calling cant make out anything I say because of all the interference. So is this the best we can expect or are these faulty units? My phone is an LG800 and it isn't on the list of approved phones so I thought that might be the problem. I do get a bluetooth connection but I can't copy across my phonebook for instance.

Yes, I have already read that thread, but it relates to problems on a 710 or similar. I also had a search on everything I could find on hands free, but didn't find anything that related to the problem my unit shows.
I don't get any sort of buzzing or distortion as described by others, just what appears to be a very low mike sensitivity, hence I was interested to see if anyone had the same experience.
I have emailed TT to see what they suggest, but will try the clear flash tool anyway, and report back.

Oh dear, I'm getting a bit confused now. I followed the link to the ClearFlash tool but the problems it is supposed to fix don't include mine ( a buzzing at the receivers end). The ClearFlash tool also appears to be related to an sd card in the TT. My Go 720 doesn't have an sd card inserted. Should I still run the ClearFlash tool anyway?

Ignore my advise. I though the problems you experienced and those in the thread is posted where similar. |

Ok, thanks for trying to help anyway. Having delved a bit further it seems this buzzing is a known problem (on this forum if not by TomTom) and is down to faulty kit so I'll be taking mine back for a replacement.

Clear flash clears a section of the working memory in the TomTom (NOT the internal memory for map storage you get in some models).
It can be used on any machine and it HAS been reported that it solved unusual problems that weren't in their list, although that could always be co-incidence. sometimes people on forums swear blind that something fixed (or broke) their machine when you *know* it couldn't have!
In other words, if no-one comes up with any better ideas, you've got nothing to lose by trying it..... ESPECIALLY as you have a full Explorer-created backup, don't you. (although in this case *my* guess is that it's a hardware problem). |
