Navman S90i Mic volume low when on bluetooth handsfree

I have a new Navman S90i when I connect my phone to my navman via bluetooth, it connects great, but when in a call the person I am talking to, says the volume level is quiet, I can hear them perfectly, but alas, I am quiet at their end.

I notice there is a mic socket on the side of the navman, can I connect a mic into this, to solve the problem? or is there another way to turn up the mic so I am louder at the other end of the line?
