TomTom have actually admitted to a problem with Mapshare and reckon the newly-released Home 2.1 solves it.
Read about it (and manually download Home 2.1) HERE |

First report of connecting to Home 2.1
It offered me my old map again (as usual), new software (refused for now!), quickfix, mapshare and POI updates.
It DID download and install them all.
It DID upload my Mapshare corrections.
It DIDN'T offer me all the speed camera date for the whole of Europe (which it had been doing even though I never subscribed)
It DID need to re-download the .dll to make the "Operate my Go" feature work. It works OK.
It DID lose my "Jukebox" icon on the Quickmenu, but the "Mark location of Map error" icon that others have seen disappear is still there and working.
It DIDN'T lose my POI warning settings (yet!)
The on-screen menus still don't match the actual menus on the 720
8/10 so far. |

Andy are you sure this is for the Go 520/720's?
My Home 2 is not seeing it as an update, yet others with TomTom Ones are getting it as a download via Home, making me think that it may be an update for the One series to correct the MapShare problems they have been having with updated 7series software/maps.
The only problem I have had with MapShare and Home 2.0 was a corruped map update that stopped it from downloading any newer ones, once I had deleted all the map updates and redownloaded them it's all worked correctly. _________________ Graham.

Well, there's nothing to say that it ISN'T for 520/720 on that page.
I've been using it often today and it recognised the 720 immediately and downloaded the required .dll to run the on-screen "virtual" machine, and that looks like a 720.
All the downloads work, so I see no reason to believe it isn't for the 520/720. |

There's nothing there to say what it is for other than what it is supposed to fix, as I don't have the problem it is supposed to fix I hold off installing it although I have downloaded it.
Just find it strange that an updated version of Home is not being picked up by Home 2 with a Go 720, but is by Home with the one series. Almost as if it is an interim fix. _________________ Graham.

Mapshare still all working fine here. Must be a problem with your specific set-up, Technic. |

I used to have the same problem.
I now have used the latest version for my 520 and TTHome2.
I also tick ALL the options for the map share.
I did as tom tom requested to do and that was to make a backup of my unit, format the unit then restore the backup.
The only two problems i still have are,
1 - I have ticked the option to "ask for traffic update while planning a route" but it does not ask.
2 - I can't get the tom tom Mobile cameras to show and reported cameras don't stay active.
If i look at the my account list on my device it used to show the free accounts, weather, buddies etc, but now it shows none.
Should this list the free ones and my traffic and camera account?

I didn't think the TomTom cameras included mobiles. _________________ Anita

Hi Anita,
you can add new mobile sites and also download mobile sites to your unit.
My problem is that they never show up even when the warnings are set up.
I can add a site as i drive past one and it will warn me about it if i go past it again but i can't seem to get the unit to remember them.
Tom Tom have now requested that i return my unit to them to look at it to resolve these problems.
(Does anyone know how long Tom Tom take on repairs?).

How long is a piece of string?
Make sure you send it so they have to sign for it, that way they can't deny receiving it. |

I tried a reformat and restore, but made no difference to my mapshare POI's.
I have sent email to TomTom and await a fix. |

I think I remember reading somewhere that the TT database tries to only show "active" modile sites. If that means what we all expect it to mean, I've no idea how on Earth they think they can keep it upto date, but the idea was not to have a vast database of sites that haven't been used for some time. |

In theory I suppose that means they could simply broadcast every day the "active today" mobile sites. That would be impressive if you believed they could do it. Y'know, Mobile:7027 and 14112 are both operating on the M4 near Junction 15 at 1pm today (which they were) - exactly the same sort of thing as their Traffic service! _________________ Dennis
