TT One SD slot?

I am a new TT One user. What is the SD slot on the Tomtom One US-CANADA used for? My unit came with US and Canada maps pre-installed, not on a SD card. And what capacity SD card will the TT1 support? Thanks . . .

Looks like you got one of those "in-between" units; lucky you!

TomTom began switching from SD-only to an internal flash drive a few months ago, and as such there were a couple of batches that came equiped with both. It doesn't serve too much purpose since there's no media player on the ONE, but you can use it to store extra voices, new maps, etc.

You could load a third-party mp3/mp4 player, but I can't guarantee that they'll be able to read the SD card if they're installed on the internal drive.

You can use up to a 4GB NON-SDHC (high capacity) card (Transcend makes a 150x one that's worked well in TomToms and Mios), but I'd recommend sticking to 2GB to be on the safe side.
