I'm sure someone has already mentioned something about TMC but I can't find the post.
I have just tested the TMC and found the reception seems better than v6? but something doesn't seem right in the software. A major road into another town was correctly identified as closed, but on doing the run through of the route to simulate the route the GPS ignored the information and still routed down the road which was closed.

First I thought it was to do with the time in the GPS being wrong so I corrected that and did it again and still nothing. The settings we tried on both manual and automatic re-routing and both times it still routed down the closed road. I know for a fact that in v6 the TMC information was used even when using the demo, just in case that had changed I loaded the 'guidance' mode and scrolled the map to see if I could see the symbol marked on the map.... nothing..... blue line indicating that the GPS was still going to route down the closed road.

It seems that the v7 software is very good at receiving the TMC information, but what is it actually doing with the information?

I have to agree with you about the improved TMC reception with v7.

It took initially about 15 mins / 10 miles to get a lock on a journey on Thursday, but once on it was there all the way there and all the way back. This is the first time I have had a good experience with TMC other than TT via GPRS.

I'd be interested to know if software improvements can benefit hardware operation in this case.

Maybe improvements to the tuning software within v7? It does seem much better at getting the signal, even with just the wire!.
Although still not sure if TMC is actually working correctly as I just came back from the in laws (I know the way but wanted to have a play) and to my horror even though TMC had information about one of the roads being closed it still seemed to want to take me that way? I did notice a 'blocked' symbol on the map while driving but it was miles away from where it should have been?

However I was on a dual carriageway at the time so wasn't able to stop and check if it was a closed road symbol or not.
