Nuvi 300 maps

Hi I've just had a warning on my Nuvi 300 saying the mapping is a year old and should be updated. I've been noticing this myself - its not had some new roads and the whole A1 around Ferrybridge services is missing!

Looked at the Garmin website though and it doesn't look like theres an update or am I wrong? My Garmin's less than a year old too so am I entitled to any updates?

What version of maps is it running at present?

As you are getting a message then it may be V8 mapping - which is nearly 2 years old. V9 has been available for a while now but we are expecting an imminent (2 months?) update to V10 - so it may be worth your while waiting until then.

Don't expect it (V10) to be up-to-date as there is invariably a delay between new roads being built, then getting into the core mapping data (NAVTEQ) and then out to the manufacturer (GARMIN).

garmin had a policy of if you buy a new unit when newer maps were already out then you would get a fre map update. give them a ring on 0808 238 0000 and ask them to check.
