Can any one tell me if the feature on the 920 of having guidence with no GPS signal is worth having?

When I had a 720 for a short time I can't remember ever losing a signal apart from one or to long tunnels.

I need to get a new unit and I was thinking of getting a 520 and then buying the latest maps for europe and USA when I need them( now tomtom own teleatlas they might be updated more often).

So you 920 owners your thoughts would be helpful.

Other than tunnels or urban canyons there is very little point to it as this GPS signal acquisition on the x20 is very good indeed. Obviously this is very much a UK baised statement, in mainland Europe there are lots of very long tunnels where it would be of use.
If this is your deciding factor as to purchase of the 920, 720 or 520 consider the additional extras thrown in with the 920, the remote control, RDS-TMC, USA mapping etc. Also the additional costs of downloading the extra maps when/ if you need them for the lessor devices will be far more costly than when bundled with the device - Mike

I had a 920 until an update killed it. I also have a 720 which I'm now using again and haven't missed the EPT bit at all. It may be of use if you live in an urban environment with flyovers, tunnels and other difficult reception areas but otherwise it is far from a must have IMHO.

I know what your saying, but there is £127 difference between the two.

Europe map is £60 and usa £50, wouldn't it be better to by the most up to date maps when I need them?

How often are they updated these days?

I also has already paid for tomtom traffice on the GPRS ( they wont let me cancel it when I returned my 720)

My opinion - do NOT buy a 920 for the EPT. Running a 920 and two 720s side by side, I find the 920 goes to EPT very readily (under odd bridges and in urban canyons) when the 720s do not actually lose signal. Worse still, I find that when it's on EPT (urban canyon) and I come to a standstill, it continues to move around and starts to somersault, twist, turn round and move off course. The 720s stick at the job more reliably without EPT.
