Garmin etrex name & address setup

I've just bought a second hand etrex legend which has been reset so that the name and address on the welcome page are blank. How do I go about setting these to my name and address? Any help appreciated.

On my Quest there is an option in the Settings menu called "Welcome Setup" where you can enter your name and phone number or whatever. Maybe the Etrex has a similar function somewhere in it's settings menu?

If all else fails, go to Garmin's website https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=145 click on your GPS unit and download the manual!

Thanks Skippy. I've tried the paper manual, the downloaded manual and the setup menu but I'm still at a loss. I assume there is a secrest menu somewhere or maybe its just me not reading the manual closely enough.

Ahh! Get a copy of Mapsource, connect your Garmin to your PC, go to the Utilities menu and select "Rename your GPS". That might work!!

I can upload and download from MapSource but when I try Rename it says it can't find a device with "the necessary capabilities".
This option doesn't look like its going to give me the ability to set a name and address. I think its more like a nickname to replace the unit id. Nice try and thanks for your help again.

I found a reference on this site to personalising the etrex text by amending the firmware. I assume that adding name and address details to your etrex isn't a standard facility then and my etrex has been hacked by the previous owner. Has anyone tried this on their etrex?

Thanks Skippy. I tried Ximage but it doesn't seem to support the etrex legend which is a pity. Looks like I'm back to altering the firmware.

Finally found the details courtesy of the previous owner. Turn on the unit and scroll through the user pages until you get to MAIN MENU. At the top right hand corner of the screen you will see 2 symbols. Using the front toggle button choose the left hand symbol and press the front toggle button once. This should give a drop down window showing OWNER INFORMATION . Press the front toggle button and the rest is easy.
