Folks,

I had a Tom Tom 500 which got pinched from my car, always used the GPSWorld Speedcam database. I replaced this with a Tom Tom One GB plus speed cameras, it comes preloaded to memory on the unit. How do I update this with the new database, it autoloads Tom Tom Home V2 which is unlike the previous version?

Cheers, johnmac

When you connect up to the PC, ANY TomTom should be recognised as a new "removable storage device" (or two in the case of models with both SD card and Flash memory).
Close down "Home" if it insists on launching, and use the manual install of .ov2 and .bmp files, as described in the FAQs HERE

Also, don't forget to disable TT's own camera database if there is a trial version of it already installed. Instructions for that are also in the FAQs

Tell us how you get on!

Thanks Guys,

Had a good look at this this afternoon and it is fairly straight forward.
1. Download the zip file from PocketGPSworld
2.Unzip it to the /download/POI directory on Tom Tom Home version 2
3. Launch Home
4. look at POI in Tom Tom home version 2 and it will find them on your computer
5. click on add poi
6. switch off Tom Tom cameras ( they are crap anyway )

All looks OK and I could now go in and set my alarms etc.

cheers, johnmac

Have you actually done it yet?
I'd thought that Home 2 had problems finding POIs that weren't from TT themselves. That's why I suggested you use the ov2 download instead.

Folks,

Yes, I have done this process and it works fine, all my cameras are there and operational. I will try with other POI,s this evening.

Cheers

Folks,

OK, for poi downloads on pocketgpsworld, tom tom V2 does not recognise ov2 files. I have noticed that all cabinet files are noticed on tom tom home V2 and this may be a work around for tom tom's attempt to stop folks downloading updates.

In short, for POI's to work on the Tom Tom One the download would need to be a cabinet file to be recognised by Tom Tom home V2.

No need for cab files, no need for home...

Copy the .ov2 and the .bmp icon into the map folder exactly the same as you did for the camera POIs.
