Hello.

I have a toshiba E330 and an Haicom 203E im using with TOM TOM 2.?

Its very seldomly reliable -i'd say every 1 in 10 time i use it it works.

I can't really get the PDA to register that it is actually recieving satelite signals via 'GPS status'.

The Haicom receiver is fine -i have just tested it using my mates toshiba e740 and it works straight away. -the GPS staus immediatly registers that it can pick up a signal.

On the ocassions mine has worked it works brialiaintly it has got me round london on 1 occasion.

Any ideas. As far as i am aware the drivers, tom tom software are all installed correctly?

are there any E330 update software i should use?

any help would be appreciated?

Me and my colleagues are baffled by this?

Why is it so inconsistent?

MANY THANKS!

What TomTom GPS version are you using?

One important thing - do not use the "Haicom GPS" setting in TomTom GPS. That's only for SiRF based GPSes - I've proved on my setup that it sends SiRF commands to the GPS (it reconfigures the NMEA sentences output by my SiRF based Haicom HI-303MMF). Your GPS is Evermore based, and won't understand these commands - indeed, they may have unwanted side effects.

Evermore based Haicom GPSes should be set up with the "NMEA 0183v2 4800" setting.
