My Mio C320 works just fine - except when I connect it to my PC (WinXP SP2), the PC fails to detect it. The C320 shows the animated icon, and seems to recognise the PC.
I have followed MIO's instructions exactly, but still no joy.
The USB port is fine - it connects to my camera and card reader perfectly.
It's as if a driver is missing, though none is needed.
Any advice welcomed. John. |

| Welcome to the forum, is the USB socket you are using actually on the PC, as a lot of devices don't like it when connected via a hub or monitor USB point - Mike |

Yes, it's connected directly to USB port on the back of the PC next to the PS/2 keyboard and mouse sockets.
I've tried my lap top too and that doesn't recognise it either.
I've re-booted both the PC and the C320, and tried again. Weird.
I've followed the advice in MIO FAQ exactly on several occasions, but nowt.
I've e-mailed MIO support, but from previous postings here and other forums, it seems all I'll get is a £1/min phone number.  |

| Based upon comments I have seen elsewhere and having suffered the same problems myself I have found that my PC will only recognise my Mio when I am on the home screen i.e. you have to come out of MioMap and into the first menu screen. If you try and connect the unit to a PC whilst in the Navigation screens it doesn't seem to recognise the unit but if you back right out to the beginning each time i.e. Maps, Bluetooth, MP3, Settings etc. it seems to work fine (for me!) |

That's what I've been doing. The MIO recognises the PC as it jumps into connected mode.
The MIO software just comes up with "Device is not connected. Please connect device and try again."
I've registered with MIO and the user settings, serial number &c. are correct AFAICS.
And no response from MIO yet. Very frustrating. |

MIO have responded, with a pretty comprehensive response.
It's beginning to look like the connecting cable is faulty, as no computer (I've now tried 4 and three different versions of Windows)) will detect the C320.
I'm now searching for the spec of the connecting cable as my collection of USB cables does not include one which fits the C320. |

Problem solved!
It's a combination of poor instructions and user stupidity.
I had the C320 mounted in the cradle, where the connection is solely for power. After removing the C320 from the cradle and plugging the USB cable directly into it, everything worked smoothly. No need for any drivers with WinXP; it appears as a Removable Storage Device "N: MIO Device" for the maps &c. and "O: Removable Disk" for the SD card.
