Hello,

I updated the software on my X950 last night to 6.5.4 (build 163), along with some POI files via the connection management software.
All went well, all installed OK, but since then I have been unable to get ANY satellite signal, I just get a row of grey bars!!

Does anyone have any ideas?

(I tried a search on the forum without result, so apologies if I have missed a previous thread)

Hi,

Have you tried a reset, soft and / or hard?

Come back if that doesn't work Smile

Yes - tried both, no change.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Sorry, work interrupted my train of thought there Wink

It can take some time to get the device to get a fix.

How long are you giving it?
How long did it used to take?
Are you in a place you know you got a signal before?

I've just turned my X980T on in a relatively bad position for me and it took 5 to 6 mins to get 4 satellites.

If you look at the GPS Status screen after powering up it will (should) eventually show some activity.

Well, I was giving it a good 10-15 minutes, whereas it used to take just a couple.

I was in an area where I had previously had good reception - in fact I had at least 4 satellites before I did the upgrade.

I contacted the viaM helpline and they suggested I go stand in a field (how rude!) i.e. well away from any building and wait at least 30 minutes after a hard reset.

Well, like you I have to work, so I turned it on for my journey home which is mainly outside (walk/tram). I was getting signals, but they were displayed as grey bars, not green. Anyway I persevered, and just as i got off the tram, I got 9 green bars, hooray I was well chuffed!!

Then the battery died!!!

All's well that ends well, though - after a recharge, it's now working fine again. It seems the answer is be VERY patient.

Thanks for your help.
