Please help, is there anyway to only get speed camera warning alerts on the route that you are on, instead of all the cameras on the left and right of the planed route? I was trying a RoadAngel SATN (nothing compared to the TomTom) and it only alerts the cameras on route and not the ones to the side.

cheers

Set 'Warn only if POI is on route' in the 'Warn when near POI' configuration options..

Though you'll still get alerts on the other side of a single carriageway as the TomTom can't register the direction information/heading.
Also entries on slip roads and the roundabouts off motorways still seem to trigger.

Thanks Darren
but even with this selected it warns me of speed cameras on the roads at the side of my route ie roads if any to he side of say a motorway there may be a 30/40 mph speed camera. It is anoying as you have to keep glancing at the unit to make sure it is not on your route.

Thanks Andy but if gives warning of cameras in the housing schemes of to the left and right if there is any. As I said the Road Angel only gives the ones actually on your route.

That's a limitation of the POI implementation and not something we can resolve sorry.

Must admit I don't get that happening on mine with 'warn only when on route' set. Confused

Maybe setting the warning distance closer would help?

Is the correct answer Wink I have this same problem sometimes, but if you install the ogg spoken files and the speed zoned version of the database it will be obvious if, on a motorway, you get a 30mph warning for example.

Very odd, I have mine set to further than that.

Can you give a specific example of a mis-behaving camera that we can try?

I had my warning distance set at 600 metres... until I discovered that you can be snapped by a van at up to 700 metres. Sad So I now have them set at 900 metres.

But I only get cameras along the route, not on nearby off-route roads Confused

Andy.
I was visiting Whitley Bay and running between that area and the Metro Shopping centre in Gateshead, also the surrounding area. I was getting warning of cameras of to the side of my routes.

Once again, thank you to all who have tried to explain.
