correct me if im wrong but on my c550 Garmin seemed to have changed the way traffic data is displayed

before, i got a nice long list of traffic problems sorted by distance from current location... useful !

now, i get some weird strange map that hhas zero detail on it, there are traffic incidents marked on it but when you scroll through them to see what they are (beforehand you could see what they were without having to scroll through them ) they appear to jump from one to another in some seemingly random order. In summary: this new 'traffic map' is so user unfriendly and pretty poor as a wy of giving out information

is there a fix ? can i revert to an older firmware ?

thanks

Are they not in distance order from your current location?

Similar comments were made about the "new" traffic interface when it came out for the 660. Having used the "old" interface in unknown areas where you want to have the information as easy and quickly as possible, I can certainly see there are circumstances where the new interface shines.

You could downgrade if you don't like the traffic interface. Search for the old software on this forum. I have a 660 and I downgraded to 2.7 software. I prefer to see the bad roads colour coded yellow and red even if they won't be on my route as I drive rather than have to go deep into a menu.

Whilst using the new interface back in January in the bad weather I got strange directions that I didn't believe and went to my usual way onto the motorway into a queue for 2 hours.

With the old interface I could have seen all the problems and determined that what the sat nav was telling me to do was correct!

I've never had the 'old' interface on my 660 - only getting it at the start of this year. I peronally don't have any problem with the 'new' interface.

When navigating a route it pops a warning triangle on the lower RHS to show the amount of delay, tapping this allows you to get more info and to allow you to choose alternative route to avoid.

When not following a route you just get a list from the blue icon on the main page. They are listed in distance from your current location. (That is distance from start of problem) You get the red/yellow classifications in this mode. You can select an incident for more details if you want.

As I say - not having used the old interface I can't really compare - but this seems to work well and presents info as I would expect.

My point was that with the old interface you can see all the bad roads without pushing any buttons. The new interface requires you to take your eyes of the road and go into the menu system.

If you want to try 2.7 first backup your favourite (current.gpx in the garmin folder). I'm sure you will prefer it. If you don't like it you can always go back to what ever version you are using.

Also the minutes delay show in the icon is never very accrate in my opinion and therefore yellow and red roads give as much information.

PS Why don't Garmin put the blue diamond on the main map screen wher it can be seen at all times?

Thanks - may try it sometime (after my hols!)

The timing given is supplied by TrafficMaster - I've found them to be a good indication in the past. (I was a long time use of the TM Freeway system).

I'd second yor suggestion for the blue triangle to be displayed on screen (Lower RHS where it could be over-ridden the warning triangle when a delay on your route is detected).

Also, make the diamond change colour to you can see the status of the TMC reception...

Green: Reception OK
Amber: Lost Reception

Agreed. The new interface is pants... There's plenty of room on the main map interface for the info... You could get rid of the useless mp3 player button for a start. And the useless bit at the top that shows your next street...

I downgraded from 3.6 or so back to 2.7. Then went to 3.8 because I wanted the delay times... I'm about to go back to 2.7 again... v3 is just a waste of space.

Admitedly I did get an email from garmin support at one stage asking what I thought would be useful when I logged a call regarding the loss of traffic info. I detailed why the new interface was bad (Multiple screen presses to find info, causing the drivers attention to be drawn away from driving etc). never heard anything back though...
