i just read the review of the tomtom one V3 here .. and couldn't help laughing

"Just to the left of the power button is a small hole. I an not entirely sure what functionality this hides. I would expect it to be for a microphone, but as there is no handsfree function it remains unclear..."

Isn't that "small hole" the Power LED.....LoL didin't the reviewer turn the darn thing on ...hehehe

Lutz isn't thick - I can assure you of that! Chances are it was an early / beta testing product which wasn't fully functional. When was the ONE NE released in America as the review is from October 2006.

Well, you must admit, it certainly looks more like where a charging LED would be, even if there wasn't one on the review sample. Laughing

A quick look at the on-line manual confirms it too (although I assume that didn't exist when the review was done).

MaFt, the first line of the article says that it had already been launched in the US a couple of weeks previously.

while it may have been released a couple of weeks early sometimes we do have to do reveiws on preproduction units that we have been giving for testing and then been allowed to base a review on

I thought that... the pictures in the review show a round power button whereas the drawings in the on-line manual show an oval one.

Sorry, re-reading my post I didn't really make it clear that I meant it might not *have* a charging led.
It wasn't meant as a criticism if it came across like that! Embarassed
