Why are several countries listed twice?

I have i3 with Germany and Chech Repblic preloaded with City Nav v8 Europe on DVD. I unlocked the DVD and loaded France and Spain. Now I have Both Germany and Deutschland listed!!! To complicate matters, I just got and unlocked v.9 update disk. Now I want to clear everything out then load all of Europe on a 1gb microSD card. I'm guessing the Germany and Chech Rep maps are permanently in internal memory...or does v.9 replace them with the newer version?

MapSource will not update the additional maps automatically - you will either have to update them in situ, or delete them and install the newer maps to the card.

You dont have double maps, its just that for the countries that have a different name in their own language uses both the english names and native language to find them. For example Germany/Deutchland, Spain/Espana, Italy/Italia, Greece/Ellada...etc
