I don't know the Nuvi, but noticed you don't say "the icons are too small" but "some of the icons are too small".

If some really are bigger than the others then I'd say you definately can make the others bigger to match.
At a guess, you need to find the names and locations of the icon files, open up one of the big ones in a "paint" program, note down the dimensions and then open up a small one and re-size it to match.

A quick Google search reveals that the .gpi file is actually the POI file itself, but the icon consists of .bmp image data incorporated into the file.
As I say, I don't know anything about Garmin, but it looks like you need some tools to un-pick the .gpi file, tweak the icon and then put it together again.
Whether this will get the results you want I don't know. TomTom's icons are restricted to 22x22 pixels IIRC, so it's still odd that you say only some of yours are small.

Digging slightly deeper, I found this:
Quote:
Adding Custom bitmaps for POI Icons

If you want to create your own icons for your custom POIs, it is possible According to Garmin's help file:

"POI Loader can associate customized bitmaps (.bmp) with the points in a data file if the .bmp has the same file name as the data file. For example, a customized bitmap named "Speed_30.bmp" would be associated with all the the points in the file named "Speed_30.csv" or "Speed_30.gpx." Bitmaps must be saved in the same directory as the associated data files. Your Garmin GPS device may have image size requirements. Most compatible Garmin products work well with icons that are 24x24 pixels or smaller. Bitmaps that do not meet those requirements may appear distorted when viewed on the unit's screen. Custom bitmaps can also include a transparent color. Most compatible Garmin products use magenta (RBG 255, 0, 255) as the transparent color. "

There are a lot of programs out there which can help you create a bmp file. For example, you could make your own golden arches to represent McDonalds: (You can download this to help give you the proper format) The image properties of this file (in Corel Photo House), which will appear properly are as follows: Width .22 inches. Length, .22 inches. Resolution is 73dpi.

The above came from http://www.gpsinformation.org/penrod/poiloader/poiloader.html
Probably worth a look and a bit of research....

I'll have a look at that, Cheers.

The ones that are small are the ones preloaded by garmin, if I download POI from the net then the size for them is fine.

Thanks
Steve
