TomTom XL 330S / ONE 130S in the UK?

Why are these devices not available in the UK?

Both are the same as UK models but the S version added text to speech.

Now I have no interest in things like bluetooth etc. from the GO range, but TTS I do want... In the US you can choose with or without TTS on the ONE / XL range.

Why do we miss out in the UK?

Even the Garmin Nuvi 2X5 range has TTS on the US model, but not the UK one.

Next question I assume if I purchased one in the US if I purchased UK maps they would have TTS too?

Perhaps the US market demands more from the device for the purchase price, in Europe they can get away with less features and still charge more cash, whether the US spec device would work using TTS in the UK with a UK/ European map loaded is not really known but I don't see why it wouldn't. Look at what you have purchased with the US device, the hardware, the maps, and the license for the LoquendoTTS voice pack, so if you add a UK/ Euro map to it there shouldn't be an issue.

I would also like to see the newer One XL devices offered with the TTS system in Europe, it is a great device, a no bells and whistles navigation device which is what some users crave after, the lack of mp3/ handsfree etc is no loss when a device can do what it is good at - basic navigation - lets face it that is what you purchase it for - Mike
