Hello all, my name is James, this is my first post. I have recently just purchased my first GPS system which is a MIO C510E. All in all I am happy with the device but one thing is seriously frustrating me and I wonder if anybody could be kind enough to advise me.

MIO claims to have the function of a full 7 digit postcode search, however when I do search for any postcode it always tries to guess what I want after the first 4 digits and never guesses right, infact for example if I want to search for

RH11 0EF

MIO will say will stop be at RH11 and then give me the following results for example

RH11 0
RH11 5
RH11 6 etc etc, it never gives a 7 digit search, is this just my device playing up or is that just the way the device operates, in which case I want my money back as the device is not doing what it claims to

Any help would be kindly appreciated, happy new year to all

Regards

James

Are you sure it's full 7 digit postcode out of the box?

A quick look at the specs (and a word search of the electronic manual) doesn't mention full post codes. The manual describes behaviour as you describe. (I.e. down to post code sector level both for UK and Holland)

The spec marks postcode searches with a asterix - but doesn't say what the asterix implies.

Perhaps its an optional add-on?

I used to have full UK postcode search on my C510E. A couple of months
ago I updated my C510E with the latest code, maps and languages and since then have only had 4 digit post code search on the UK map. This is as good as hopeless if you don't have a road name, ie just a post code.

I vaguely remember a discussion about a 7 digit postcode version of the UK map which had been overlayed/replaced or some such thing causing these symptoms.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to debug/fix this please? As of this morning I am uptodate on all software, maps and languages from the MIO website and the problem persists. My Mio Map is version 3.2 Mar 14 2007. My UK Map says it is 2006 Tele Atlas N.V (060926).

Thanks, David
