You don't say what GPS you are using (or what s/w either)

However the phrase 'waiting for valid GPS signal' implies that your pda can 'see' the GPS but the GPS hasn't been able to get a fix yet.

Try doing a soft reset (use stylus on small recessed button on back?) as this has proven to be necessary after installation of GPS on some devices.

Then take PDA and GPS outside and leave for several minutes (if you are unlucky the first fix can take a long time.

Does the GPS have any indicators to show it has a fix?

@philpugh: The rx5720 comes with TT pre-installed and has a built in GPS receiver.

@darcon: I would only expect that message if you hadn't given enough time for it to get a location. Has the device been working & suddenly stopped? Have you changed any of the settings? What does the signal strength meter show? Are you seeing the "spinning disc"?
If you provide us with enough information, we MAY be able to provide you with a solution!

Hi,

Have you managed to get a fix outside the car? If it will work outside at least you know it not a fault unit time to first fix can be a couple of mins,

I have the 5935 it will work in my car ( Ford with quickclear windscreen) but it take some time to fix in the city and will lose the signal. However I have a reradiating? booster fitted and find that make a tremendous difference.
