Hi all,
I have searched the forum and the rest of the www with no luck,
I have a problem setting up a pocket pc with a bluetooth receiver, this setup has worked fine for the past year or so, after letting the kids loose on the pocket pc things went wrong!
I did a hard reset and reinstalled the software.

Dell axim x5 pocket pc 2003
CF bluetooth card
bluetooth gps receiver,

Installed blutooth drivers, paired devices then installed tomtom,
when specifying gps hardware I select
other bluetooth gps
it tells me to pair devices (does it do this even though they are paired?)
I then get 4 choices where gps is connected to
usb cable
com3
native ir
serial cable on com1

none of these seem to connect, I get the "no gps device" message, although the gps receiver does seem to be talking to something.

Help me... Smile

I have continued searching and it appears I do not have a bluetooth connection manager, but I have no idea where to get it!
Anybody know?

It doesn't look as if you are paired fully.

The steps should be along the lines...

Pair devices. You should get prompted for the pass code of the GPS.

Create an Incoming Serial Port - this is for use by the GPS. It is this port number you will need for later.

Start TomTom and under GPS Config select Other Wireless GPS and select the port you created in the set above.

Remember to Exit from TomTom (don't just use the X in the top RHS) it will leave you unable to re-connect to the GPS without doing a soft reset in many cases.

I suggest you delete any pairings made, do soft reset and start from scratch.

And to add...

What version of TomTom are you trying to use?

V5.21 was the first that reliably worked with BT GPS receivers. Previous versions were very hit and miss.

The BT GPS uses the OUTGOING port when configuring the device, as Phil says use the latest version (5,21) which is available for free download from TomTom - or try using the "Other cabled NMEA device" I know it sounds stupid as its a BT unit but this used to fix the issue of getting the communication working - Mike

The port appears to be the problem,
I am not getting an option to create an incoming port!
Is this an automatic step or do I need to do this manually?

With regards to the version, I am running 5.21

Thanks

:D
Problem Solved
I had no way of setting the com ports (ingoing or outgoing)
I only had 2 tabs Mode & Bonded devices.

I found a file on the dell website called "dell bluetooth vcom manager"
Installed this and problem solved, I could now set a port for my paired device. I have now also got a Com ports tab.

Thanks for the help though.
