Hi Gee Pee
I did read it with interest. One thing I hope comes out of it is that Mio puts the same strategy into Navman post customer support as they have with their own products.
Friends have a Mio 269, they are not PC literate, and so I get the job of updating it for them, so I am familiar with the Mio club website, at one stage we had free software and maps compare it with Navman, no contest?

Hi Drp:

We have about 20 MIO 268's as company sat navs. They were bought just prior to the free upodate (about 2 years ago) and boy did they need it. The M6 toll was not on the maps at all. The user interface was painfull and they did not and still do not support custom POI's without loading third party (and not free) software. Of the ones we bought several have had to be returned for repair, in contrast, my ICN520 bought just before the company purchase of the Mio's has at least been totally reliable.

Since then I understand that Mio's latest models are a vast improvement but in the days of the 268 and 269 I reckon from personal experience that Navman products were definitely superior.

That said I hope that the sale will improve both product ranges (or those that survive).

Hi Terry
When I purchased my 510, from memory it did not have the M6 toll. I had to purchase my update Our friends have had no issues with it. It has routed them and us (using Navman) down to Montpellier, Millau, Dordogne, Le Mans on separate occasions with them taking the lead & me monitoring and also many places in the UK. I can only speak on experience, which up to today has been good.
That’s why I may consider a Mio 710, its one (without add on bits) with in built TMC, 2GB memory.
I cannot fault my 510, if Navman had launched its last map release with updated software, I would not be looking for anything else, even the hardware is a bit dated.
Regards
