I have used Route 66 for a day now and have the following comments.

2D View
----------
Great graphics and colours and very smooth movement. I have changed the colours to match the paper maps I have been used to. However, I find the current position icon to be in a strange place - dead center of screen! This really cuts down on forward visibility - I would prefer the current position icon to be near the bottom of the screen to maximise the view ahead of the car. At least there should be an option where this icon should be.

I find the track up/north up behaviour to be very odd. I drove a route this morning in the 2D view which defaulted to track up. I changed the zoom level and the display changed to north up! While in north up, the map didn't scroll - the current position icon moved to the top of the screen and then the screen jumped forward to that position. The current position icon was then central again. This is pretty odd as no roads can be seen ahead of the car!

Thinking this behaviour must be zoom related, I zoomed back to the original level where I had track up - but it stayed north up however much I zoomed in/out! I had to generate the route again to get the display back to track up.

Anyone else seen this behaviour?

Other
------
Superbly clear voices.
Next turn and turn after that display excelent - really does help with lane selection. The second turn icon shows how far it is from the next turn icon - superb!

Bad points
------------
No way to change routing from what is first generated. I planned a local route that would have got me there, but was not the optimal - I would have liked an option to regenerate the route.

Overall I am very impressed with the quality of the mapping.

Worked this one out a little better!

In the 3D view, I zoom out to the point just before small roads disappear. If I then switch to 2D view, I get a zoomed out view with track up. However, If I go straight into 2D view and zoom out to the point just before small roads disappear, I get a north up view!
