What do you think about recording these as POI ?

There is already a sub cat for maternity and im sure A&E is just as important.

There are a few entered now.

Here is a good resource to local your local A&E along with phone numbers and correct hospital names.

Couldn't see a link in your last post Space_Cowby...

If you have a website, we could all do our local ones.

This One will offer a number of local A&E if selected when combined with a local postcode - Mike

Here is the link

http://www.nhs.uk/England/NoAppointmentNeeded/AccidentEmergencySearch.aspx

You get about 4 or 5 for each post code. I have done home and work so covered a few areas.

I started to do these for my area, but they all seem to be in the database already as "Healthcare - Hospital".
Do you really want them entered twice?
Wouldn't it be better if the existing entries just had "A+E" added in the description (or even at the end of the name)?

In my area (within 3 miles of home) there are 4 hospitals already plotted, however only one of these have a A&E department.

The same will also apply to rural areas where there will be hospitals and the A&E is in the nearest large town.

The same argument could be used for maternity units which are plotted as separate POI.

I guess it's down to PGPSW as to how they want to arrange it....
Any thoughts? If a Hospital is already in the D.base, do you want it submitted again as an A+E?

personally i would like to be able to navigate to a hospital with A&E if needed rather than just to the closest hospital.

Is the idea here to create a new database or add it to the Main Database?
They have introduced a new A&E category within the Database.

The idea [Space_Cowby] is/was a good one!

I was caravanning in Bristol and at 1:30am had to rush my 3 year old grandson to hospital.

The Bristol Royal Infirmary is marked as a general location but the Children's Hospital is elsewhere!

Rushing around between the hospitals avoiding drunks and many fights I managed to find the correct doors but wasted so much time!

Your good idea therefore prompted me to look again and see how I could share that night with others and save them time!

Already in the Database
Bristol Royal For Children (Healthcare - Hospital) ID:45488
Centre Latitude: 51.458974037212 Longitude: -2.600369453430176

Bristol Royal Infirmary (Healthcare - Hospital) ID:45490
Centre Latitude: 51.4582 Longitude: -2.5964
The entrance appears to be Terrell Street [but does not Exist]

However, the locations of A&E are placed at different locations from the General Hospital Entrances.
Here are the Bristol Royal Infirmary [sometime known as the BRI] locations:-

The Bristol Royal Infirmary A&E is here
Centre Latitude: 51.4585 Longitude: -2.597200
To find it by car you turn here [this is a vital location as the road disapears under the building in a series of tunnels and ramps]:-
Centre Latitude: 51.45801 Longitude: -2.596630

The Bristol Royal Infirmary Childrens A&E is here
entre Latitude: 51.45834 Longitude: -2.597350
To find it by car you turn here [this is a vital location as the road disapears under the building in a seies of tunnels and ramps]:-
Centre Latitude: 51.45801 Longitude: -2.596630

Space_Cowby keep pushing for local knowledge - for a more vital POI than most other caregories!

How 'oldie' will handle these changes will be interesting!

Hello guys,

I think your idea is a brilliant one. I had a heart attack whilst driving in Lancaster a year ago. I managed to get to the local hospital with the help of the sat nav in 3 minutes. It probably saved my life. If the database separated out hospitals with an A and E, it might just prove to be a life saver for others.

keep up the good work.
