The on-line manual for the Go range has much more detail...

Quote:
5.8 GPS status
You can check the signal being received by
TomTom GO's built-in GPS by tapping 'GPS
status' . This is included for possible troubleshooting
purposes and for interest's sake. The
status screen shows:
• Your calculated longitude and latitude (displayed
using your chosen distance units - see section
5.16).
14
• Your driving direction in degrees (on a standard
compass).
• Your driving speed (again, displayed in your
chosen units - see section 5.16).
• The Universal Time Code (UTC). This is the
absolute time according to the GPS satellites and
may not correspond to your local time.
• A representation of the sky overhead, showing
the positions of the GPS satellites.
• Bars showing the signal strength of each GPS
satellite. Those which are 'locked' and which are
providing useful information are shown in blue.

The above is from page 13-14 of the Go Full manual

For your info zogman...
It used to be on the main menu, now you can only get to it by tapping on the signal strength meter onthe status bar.

Not as far as I know. They all use the same software (with very minor differences, like the added quickfix code).
The main screens will all be similar.

.....Assuming of course you've updated the software whenever it is made available. Wink

It's identical to the one posted by Andy on my TomTom One v2. I always go to that screen as soon as I switch on, to follow the progress in getting a fix

My apologies.... Embarassed
I was thinking of the summary screen (where you can read the map/software/bootloader versions and your device code etc.). That used to be on the menu, but you can only get to it now by pressing the box where the software version is displayed on the route summary screen.

As you say, the GPS staus is still accessed from the preferences menu, (page 7 on the latest operating software).

Maybe what the numbers on the bars mean?

If so, the bottom one in the circle is the satellite number (matching the ones on the view of the sky), and the one above is the signal strength.
(which I've just noticed aren't on that picture I linked to! Laughing )
I couldn't post one myself, so I Googled for images, but they all had something wrong or missing or were widescreen. That was about the best, but must be quite old. Rolling Eyes

Thankyou Andy, and others, for the info. It makes no sense that TomTom have dropped the description from the TT1 manual; would have saved all of this. Thanks for the TTGo manual reference. It is now perfectly clear!
