I am about to install TomTom 6 to my PDA. I understand that I have to get a code from TTcodes to enable the software, no problem so far. My question is, if I get a total flat battery situation, and have to reinstall TT6, do I have to re register, get another code etc? Thanks in advance

Once installed your code will remain the same for that specific PDA, if you change the device i.e. get another PDA and activate TomTom a second time then you would need another code (which you can do seven days after the first activation - but you must remove the maps from the first device). If you are worried about the flat battery wiping everything out take a look at Sprite Back-up, at least you can recover the device very quickly when the inevitable happens - Mike

Thanks for that, it's much clearer now. When you say 7 days after first activation, does that mean that if i bought another pda in say a years time, would I be able to install my original TT6 to that, and get another valid code from ttcode? Thanks

Yes it does, so keep the product code card safe - Mike

Cheers for that. When I finally receive the correct software from Superetraders Evil or Very Mad I will keep the card safe!

This confused me for a while until somebody pointed me at TT's T&Cs where it states that you can on have teh sftware installed in one hardware device at any one time...and one navigation device. This does mean that you can replace your PDA every year if you want and use the same software. Which seems logical but some manufactueres have strange, restrictive and border line dodgy T&Cs.

As Mike says just keep a Sprite backup on your PC and load up again with new PDA

So how do they know that someone has not installed in on several pda's?

Because each time you use the Product code in combination with the device code to generate an activation code, this last bit is supplied by TomTom so its quite easy for them to keep tabs on what you are up to with their software - Mike

Thanks Mike. I thought they would not miss a trick like that, otherwise who would buy it? You'd just install it on all your friends pda's. Sprite back up was mentioned earlier, I take it this is the best one to use going by the posts that mention it.
