HI, can anyone let me know what I should select in the setup menu for "position format" and "map datum" to amke my geko compatable with OS maps.
I have played with a few settings in the "location" screen but the best I have managed to get is a screen with "BNG" on it that does show the "SK" prefix of my local 1:25 000 map. BUT there isn't a normal 6 or 8 firgure grid reference shown. Any help gratefully appreciated (I've just moved from an old Magellen unit so the Garmin set up is a bit strange still)
Andy

Hi, I had the same problem, I have a Garmin e-trek, and I had the same results, so I e-mailed Garmin, this is what they said.

To use your Ordinance Suryey maps of the UK, you need to change the position format to BRITISH GRID, and the map datum to ORD SRVY GB.

The position will then look like this

SU 37733
BNG 20529

SU The two letter reference for 100km grid square
37733 The Easting in 1m resolution
BNG British National Grid
20529 The Northing in 1m resolution

If you require a normal six figure grid reference, simply round off the last two numbers on each line, 377205

why didn't they tell us that in the manual,Laughing Out Loud.

Fantastic that makes sense, cheers. Shame they don't make a clear 6 or 8 figure grid reference like my old Magellan unit. Never mind, other than this it's a totally fantstic unit for it's size, exactly the same spec as the E-trex summit but less than half the size and weight. Just what I need for my mountain biking, thanks. Andy
